The prestigious awards will be presented at a ceremony hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen (Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown) on the 26^th November at the London Hilton on Park Lane.   

Lee Connolly, Chair, Craft & Design Awards said: “The standard this year has been extremely high, with the list of nominations demonstrating the talent and outstanding quality of UK television over the last year. The jury had some very tough decisions to make, and we are very much looking forward to awarding the winners on November 26th.”

Aimed at engineers in the early stages of a career in broadcasting or related industries, the award celebrates a new wave of talent making its mark on the industry.

The grand prize is an all-expenses paid trip to the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2018 exhibition and conference in Amsterdam; the world’s leading media, entertainment and technology show.

The runner-up will receive the Coffey Award for Excellence in Technology and a technical book of their choice.

Chaired by Jane Muirhead (Managing Director of Raise The Roof Productions), the awards cover all forms of production in Scotland, recognising excellence and innovation across a range of genres and crafts.

Victoria Derbyshire took home two awards for Network Presenter and Interview of the Year for her powerful interview with football abuse victims.

Sky News won the News Channel of the Year award in a closely contested category, and was also presented with the Breaking News award for its remarkable coverage of the Manchester Terror Attack. CNN International was rewarded with Scoop of the Year for its courageous and enterprising storytelling about the Libya Slave Market.
