Nominations for the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2020 announced

The BBC leads the way with 28 nominations overall across 17 of the 19 categories, followed by ITV with 10 nominations.

The prestigious awards will be presented at a ceremony hosted by Sky News presenter Anna Botting on the 26th February 2020 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

The awards, which span both news and current affairs, seek to recognise creative and excellent journalism by organisations whose broadcasts are transmitted on a UK-based platform, or who create online video content from a UK production base.

Winners of the RTS Midlands awards announced

Vicky McClure awarded Best Female Actor at the RTS Midlands Awards 2019

Coventry’s Guz Khan took home the Best Male Actor award for his performance in Tiger Aspect’s BBC Three comedy series Man Like Mobeen and the Best Writer prize, jointly with co-writer Andy Milligan. The two prizes, presented at the late-November ceremony, brought Khan’s tally to five RTS Midlands Awards in just two years.

RTS Scotland celebrates television talent at 2019 awards

Cosgrove, who led the Scotland team that campaigned successfully to bring one of the Channel 4 hubs to Glasgow, is the latest recipient of the prestigious RTS Scotland Award.

The inaugural Writer award went to Lorna Martin, who adapted her best-selling book, Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, for television. Women on the Verge, a Merman/House Productions series, aired on UKTV channel W and RTÉ2.

Entries open for RTS Craft & Design Awards 2019

The awards are set to take place on Monday 25th November at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

The RTS Craft & Design Awards celebrate excellence in broadcast television and aim to recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production. Entries are now open across 30 categories ranging from Make Up Design: Drama to Director: Multicamera, with the RTS Special Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award being given at the discretion of the RTS.

Nominations announced for RTS Student Television Awards 2019

Across six categories, 23 universities have received nominations having won at their respective regional RTS Student Awards earlier this year.

Now in its 24th year, the prestigious awards will be presented at a ceremony hosted by Radio 1 presenters Matt Edmondson and Mollie King on Friday 28th of June at the BFI Southbank. The RTS Student Awards celebrates the best audiovisual work created by students with an undergraduate and postgraduate winner both awarded in each category across Animation, Comedy & Entertainment, Drama, Factual, News and Short Form.
