The launch party held at the Lowry in Salford was a roaring success.
After a short introductory speech by RTS North West chair Alex Connock, CBBC presenters Lindsey Russell and Lauren Layfield took to the stage to announce this year's shortlist.
It was also revealed that the Learning and Education category will from now on be held in memory of Katy Jones.

Leading indie Red Production Company was the night’s big winner at the Yorkshire Centre Awards, which were held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds towards the end of June.
Red’s hard-hitting police drama Happy Valley picked up a clutch of prizes.
The six-part series, which aired on BBC One last year to critical acclaim and strong audiences, won the awards for Filmed in Yorkshire, Writer (for Sally Wainwright), On-Screen Performance (Sarah Lancashire) and Drama.
Broadcasters, companies and individuals based or working in Northern Ireland are invited to submit entries to the following categories:
The Awards celebrates the work of student television across the UK, attended by key industry figures, students and tutors. Comedian and TV presenter Mark Dolan will present the awards.
The itinerary for the day is as follows:
1.00pm: Registration and Lunch
2.00pm: RTS Student Television Awards Ceremony
3.30pm – 5.00pm: Drinks Reception

The RTS North West Awards 2015 will again be held at the Hilton in Manchester.
The awards will be presented by Liverpool-born actor and presenter Ted Robbins.
The night is planned to start with a drinks reception at 6.15pm; then dinner will be served at 7pm and finally the awards ceremony will start at 9pm.

The awards were hosted by comedian Josh Widdicombe at The Brewery in East London.
E4, which plays hosts to TV favourites Big Bang Theory and Made in Chelsea, beat off competition from CBBC, BBC and Sky Atlantic to win Best Entertainment Channel.
Soap Hollyoaks secured the Best Social Media and Digital Marketing campaign for its use of Snapchat in the ‘Who Killed Fraser?’ storyline.
Vice News gained the accolade for Best Original Channel while BBC Three drama Murdered By My Boyfriend won Best Scripted Programme.
