RTS Scotland Awards 2017

The awards cover all forms of production in Scotland and aim to recognise and celebrate excellence and innovation across a range of genres and crafts.

2017 sees a number of changes to the judging criteria, including the introduction of a Young Journalist of the Year Award.

Comedian Sandi Toksvig hosted the Awards, which were held at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Monday.

Hit BBC drama The Night Manager scooped three awards on the night, including Costume Design – Drama, Make Up Design – Drama, and Music – Original Title.

The BBC’s period drama War and Peace also went home with two awards for Effects – Special and Photography – Drama & Comedy.

It was a big night for other broadcasters too, with Channel 4 winning two awards for its dark comedy series Flowers.

Screenwriting Goldmine Awards deadline extended

The Screenwriting Goldmine Awards help talented British writers develop the right skills and contacts needed to break into the industry. The screenplays can be in film, TV drama or pilot in any genre.

The competition allows talented writers to have their screenplays read by over 33 leading industry professionals from the likes of the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and HBO.

  • This Award recognises production excellence and creativity in programmes intended either for general or specialised audiences made either for corporate purposes or retail/mail order sale.

  • They may have promotional, public information, training, educational, entertainment, special interest or other purposes.

  • They must not have been broadcast other than as an insert to a separate programme

Royal Television Society announces Programme Awards winners

The RTS Programme Awards 2016 in partnership with Audio Network, honour excellence across all genres of television programming and recognise exceptional actors, presenters, writers and production teams as well as the programmes themselves.

Suranne Jones fought off stiff competition from Claire Foy (Wolf Hall) and Claire Rushbrook (Home Fires) to pick up the award for Female Actor for her performance in BBC One drama Doctor Foster, while Anthony Hopkins won the Male Actor award for BBC Two’s The Dresser.
