Channel 4 announces return of The Great British Bake Off

The light-hearted trailer, entitled ‘The Gift’, follows the nation zealously trying to get their hands on some precious, rare flour to bake themselves through lockdown.

From banana bread to sourdough, birthdays to Bar mitzvahs, the shortage of flour caused chaos for the UK’s amateur bakers. The trailer highlights the welcome relief of the return of baking, and the upcoming eleventh series of The Great British Bake Off.

The Great British Bake Off announces new host

Lucas will be joining Noel Fielding and judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood in the tent for the eleventh series.

He said: “I’m chuffed to bits to be joining the most delicious show on television. I can’t wait to break bread with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the brilliant bakers.

“And bearing in mind my love of cake, I’ve already ordered some much larger trousers in anticipation.”

Nadiya’s American Melting Pot

The former winner of The Great British Bake Off will travel to North America for her two-part documentary series Nadiya’s American Melting Pot.

Travelling to two of North America’s most diverse vibrant hubs, California and Louisiana, she hopes to discover how generations of immigrant communities have cultivated and adapted American cuisine.

Bake Off host steps down

After three years and 51 showstoppers, Toksvig has decide to step down from The Great British Bake Off to spend more time on different projects, such as her upcoming Channel 4 series The Write Offs.

Toksvig described working on the show with Noel Fielding, Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood as “one of the greatest pleasures of my life”, describing her friendship with them as one that will “continue beyond the confines of television.”

Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will return to present the nation’s beloved cooking show alongside returning judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

This August, a fresh batch of contestants will enter the iconic tents hoping to earn the cherished ‘Hollywood handshake’, the title of Star Baker and grab their hands on the Bake Off trophy.

Channel 4 previously released the trailer for the new series, which showed a growing ‘Bake Off Fever’ that swept across the nation.

The line-up of amateur bakers is yet to be announced.

The UK’s favourite food show will soon return to our screens and Channel 4 has released the trailer for the upcoming series. 

The upbeat trailer – set to the Beatles track, All Together Now – shows the nation overcome with 'Bake Off Fever', coming together to bake everything from cookies, to cakes, to choux pastry.

A new batch of fresh-faced amateur bakers will enter the tent, hoping to raise the coveted trophy and show off their love for baking.

The Great British Bake Off: Meet the contestants

This year’s diverse batch of contestants features a cancer survivor, a banker, an ex Army Officer and an architect competing to take home The Great British Bake Off crown.

Student Liam is the youngest contestant in this year’s group and at the other end of the spectrum is the show’s oldest contestant to date - 71 year old retiree Flo.

The contestants will not be the only new additions to the show; presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will join new judge Prue Leith and GBBO original Paul Hollywood for the show’s debut on Channel 4.
