TikTok screen wipes

TikTok has allowed any of us to become social media famous, with the app showcasing new talent surfacing from viral trends that anyone can participate in.

One of the most popular trends is the #WipeItDown challenge, which shows users as their normal selves in a mirror before wiping the mirror down to reveal a surprising alternative image.

Stars such as Jason Derulo and Will Smith have had fun with the trend. The videos are set to the song Wipe It Down by BMW Kenny and Theelboy.

 

Sky Arts and Rankin join forces for new mass-participation photography project

Rankin’s 2020 challenges the nation’s best amateur and professional photographers with the documentation of 2020.

Photographers must submit a photo that represents their year by posting on Instagram using the handle @2020rankin, with the hashtag #2020rankin and the category they are entering in the description.

The categories include Family, Fun, Self, Beauty, Empathy and Nature.

There will be six episodes, one for each of the six categories, whereby Rankin will choose the best submissions with the help of celebrity guests.

The TV Collective to launch free online events for BAME industry professionals

The TV Collective coaches, champions and connects BAME workers with each other and to paid opportunities.

The sessions will help to specifically address the challenges BAME professionals face and will be a mix of free live talks and Q&A’s led by industry experts across TV, digital media and the creative industries.

Each session will allow attendees to discuss and collaborate and receive career advice, while exploring the new business models and ways of working adopted by the industry.

Jess Kelly: Social media has a lot to offer TV and radio

Kelly, who covers technology both on air and online for the Independent Irish radio station, said that social media, while you “might not agree with what it has to say, never sleeps and is always engaging”.

She went on to outline what the multitude of different social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat, has to offer in TV and radio. As with many things in life, she added, posts offer “the good, the bad and the ugly”.
