The documentary series will observe children aged four to seven from around the world, looking at the new generation of children from the UK, Japan, Africa and America to see how childhood development varies across different locations and landscapes.

Filmed over two years, the three-part series will explore the children’s attitudes and behaviour in response to different challenges affecting their development, including gender awareness, independence, morality and risk-taking. 

Speaking to the Broadcasting Press Guild this week, McCall covered a wide range of topics, including the uncertain advertising climate sparked by Brexit, comedy and digital news.

On BritBox she said, “The thing that’s going for BritBox is that it’s not American content, it’s not Starz, it’s not Showtime, it’s not HBO, it’s not all that [stuff] you are getting on Sky, you are going to get on Apple,” she said.

“It’s about the British consumer and about British content.

 “This is distinctively British-originated content. It’s highly differentiated.”

Taking place at Chelsea FC’s Stamford Bridge in London, all money raised will go towards Unicef’s work in providing care and protection for children around the world.

The match will see ex-football legends and celebrities such as Jamie Redknapp, Mark Wright and Ben Shepherd playing for the England team, and going head to head with the Soccer Aid World XI team.

Produced by Initial, part of Endemol Shine UK, the match will be broadcast live on ITV on June 16th and hosted by Dermot O’Leary.

David Nath – the co-founder of Story Films – picked up the Director award, while Joe Carey won the Editing prize. Nath’s script for the programme was taken verbatim from the police interview recordings of Tony Martin, the Norfolk farmer who shot a fleeing burglar dead in 1999. The judges described it as a “truly exciting piece of television, so well done technically and very well cast”.

Following the screening of episode one, executive producer Catherine Oldfield, co-creator and writer Daragh Carville, and actors Morven Christie and Daniel Ryan were on hand to discuss the show with ITV Granada Reports presenter Ann O’Connor.

Christie plays a detective sergeant and family liaison officer, who is embedded to offer support to the family of missing teenage twins, which allows her to investigate their disappearance from within.

Graham, who founded the programme’s producer Wall to Wall, came up with the idea for a genealogy series in which famous faces discover the truth about their ancestors – but it took a decade and a half for a commissioner to bite.

“This show is 15 years old this year but this year is also the 30th anniversary of me trying to sell it to the BBC,” he said.

Cheat

Monday: ITV, 9.00pm

ITV’s new four-part thriller, Cheat, features Katherine Kelly as sociology lecturer Leah, and Molly Windsor as Rose, her scheming student.

Set in Cambridge, Leah (Katherine Kelly) is close to securing a permanent position as a professor when negligent student Rose (Molly Windsor), submits an unbelievably good dissertation. Leah accuses Rose of deception, only to be left vulnerable to a series of sinister attacks from the student and her father, a wealthy benefactor of the college.

Airing on Saturday and Sunday mornings, it will feature live music and different celebrity guests discussing arts and culture, including books, theatre, TV and podcasts.

Sara Cox presented The Radio 1 Breakfast Show between 2000 and 2003, and is the current host of Drivetime, BBC Radio 2’s flagship music and chat show.

Speaking about her new ITV weekend show, Cox commented: “I can’t wait to keep people company on a weekend morning as they mooch about in their jamas, making crumpets and sorting the kids out.”

The All New Monty 2019: Who Bares Wins, which follows on from The Real Full Monty, sees eight celebs learning extravagant dance routines, demonstrating the importance of carrying out intimate checks for cancer prevention and being body-positive in the process.

Former Love Island contestant Jack Fincham and Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez are among the familiar faces ‘baring all’ for a cause close to their hearts, alongside Rav Wilding (Crimewatch) and Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher.
