Start the week reviewing Sugar Films’ cash flow and trying to get my head around a new accounting software system. Any of my former CFOs will know that I wasn’t put on planet Earth to do this, but I plough on gamely.
One of the things I discover is that the BBC pitch system doesn’t tell you when a commissioner has been made redundant. So an idea that I thought must be getting lots of consideration has actually been languishing, lonely and unread, in a dead Dropbox on the BBC server. Note to self – don’t take it personally.
BBC to show new darts tournament
It will include the top eight players from the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), which is the leading body in the sport. The top two players from each group will battle it out to win the title.
BBC Director of Sport Barbara Slater said: "Darts has always had wide appeal and it is great that audiences will get the chance to see all the action from the world's top players live on BBC Two and across our platforms."
Sports presenter Dan Walker to replace Bill Turnbull on the BBC Breakfast sofa
Walker said that he is "thrilled" to be joining the team.
The Football Focus host will be on the red sofa Monday to Wednesday alongside co-host Louise Minchin from Monday 29 February.
BBC signs Olympic deal
The deal builds on a 30-year partnership between the BBC and Discovery and means that the Corporation will sublicense exclusive free-to-air audio-visual rights to the 2022 and 2024 Olympic Games from Discovery.
The BBC will also license non-exclusive radio rights to the 2022 and 2024 Games.
In return, Discovery will sublicense exclusive pay-TV rights in the UK to the 2018 and 2020 Games.

Writer/director John Morton explained to a packed London Centre event at the end of January that the show’s forerunner, London Olympics mockumentary Twenty Twelve, was initially poorly received by the BBC.
“Twenty Twelve had a bit of a bumpy start – it wasn’t always liked very much in the BBC,” revealed Morton. “When it went out and did okay the music changed from ‘We don’t think this is very good’ to ‘Can we have more of these wonderful characters?’.”
