Winners of the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2021 announced

The virtual celebrations were hosted by Mishal Husain, Presenter, BBC Radio 4 and BBC News at Ten.

This year, the ‘Judges’ Award’ was given to all the technical teams in recognition of the ingenuity, innovation and speed they demonstrated this year to keep journalism on the air.

Nominations announced for the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2024

The prestigious awards ceremony will take place on 28th February 2024, hosted by Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Across the 20 competitive categories, ITV leads the way with 16 nominations, receiving two nods in multiple categories including Nations and Regions News and News Coverage – Home. The BBC closely follows with 13 nominations, dominating the Nations and Regions Factual categories receiving all three nods.

Entries open for the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2024

Celebrating creativity and excellence in journalism for both news and current affairs, the awards ceremony will take place on 28th February 2024 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

For 2024, Adrian Wells, Managing Director of ENEX, will Chair the RTS Television Journalism Awards for the first time. Additionally, the RTS has appointed two new jury Chairs: David Holdsworth, the former Controller of BBC English Regions, and Vikki Cook, Director, Content Media Policy at Ofcom.

The prestigious ceremony was held this evening at the London Hilton on Park Lane, hosted by journalist and presenter, Dan Walker.

The awards, which spanned 21 categories, celebrated and recognised journalism talent across the television industry. This year, the BBC led the way with 11 wins across both news and current affairs, including Network Daily News Programme of the Year for BBC News at Ten and Network Presenter of the Year which was awarded to Clive Myrie.

Nominations for the RTS Television Journalism Awards 2023 announced

The awards ceremony will take place on March 1st 2023 at the London Hilton on Park Lane and will be hosted by Dan Walker, 5 News. 

The awards celebrate creativity and excellence in journalism and across the 20 competitive categories, the BBC leads the way with 26 nominations, followed by ITV with 14 and Sky with nine. New for this year is the Political Journalist of the Year category, for which Paul Brand and Anushka Asthana have been nominated for ITV1, along with Beth Rigby for Sky News.

Hosted by journalist and presenter Cathy Newman, the prestigious awards will take place on Wednesday 23 February 2022 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and will celebrate creative and excellent journalism for both news and current affairs.

After an unparalleled and challenging year, the BBC leads the way with 23 nominations across the 19 categories including ‘News Channel of the Year’, and ‘Breaking News’ for the coverage of Boris Johnson being rushed to hospital with Covid-19. ITV and Sky News follow garnering 10 nominations each, both including ‘Scoop of the Year’ and ‘Television Journalist of the Year’, for which the nominees are Alex Crawford for Sky News, Clive Myrie for BBC News, and Robert Moore for ITV News.

RTS Television Journalism Awards 2021 open for entries

The RTS is seeking submissions that highlight the outstanding reporting that has taken place in this unique and turbulent year. 

The awards, for both news and current affairs, seek to recognise creative and excellent journalism by organisations whose broadcasts are transmitted on a UK based platform or who create online video content from a UK production base.
