The Lab offers 13 writers the opportunity to develop a script of theirs at the final draft stage, in a focused and supportive environment with access to leading industry professionals.

The programme, which will take place from 15 to 20 September 2025 at The Hurst in Shropshire, consists of masterclasses and seminars led by two tutors, and sets aside time for independent writing and a one-to-one session with a tutor to guide your project. Across the week there will also be evening sessions with special guests from the industry.

The broadcasting company is offering six training placements for talented TV professionals with a disability, and those from black, Asian, and minority backgrounds, to develop their commissioning skills.

Now in it’s third year, the six-month programme will place applicants into one of the BBC’s commissioning teams, including BBC Two, Arts, Drama, Entertainment, Popular Factual and Specialist Factual.

The Trust is looking for creative young people with a passion for television and documentaries to join its DocLab and Mentoring Scheme for 2018. The prestigious scheme gives participants the chance to take their first step towards a successful career in factual programme making.

Some of the leading creatives from across the BBC identified over 200 one and off screen talent of the future at the event.

The New Talent Hotlist features fresh new voices taking risks in front of and behind the camera and reflecting the diversity of modern Britain in the creative industry.

"Finding and supporting the next generation of new talent - both on and off screen - is a vital part of the BBC’s remit," said Tony Hall. 

The charitable organisation runs two training programmes each year, The Network and Ones to Watch, that help talent from a diverse range of backgrounds across the UK kick-start their careers in the TV industry.

The Network gives 60 applicants with little or no experience their first step on the TV ladder for those who want to work behind the camera.

The new Creative Skillset Series Producer Programme is open for applications, offering the opportunity to make the leap from Producer to Series Producer. 

Backed by the BBC, Channel 4 and Channel 5, this year-long scheme will find the next generation of SPs to help the industry advance and grow.
