How to cut TV’s carbon footprint

Each hour of television produced leaves a ­carbon footprint of 9.2 tonnes, which is the equivalent of two households’ annual consumption. This startling figure is the average across all genres – quadruple it for drama.

That was the top line given by Roser Canela Mas of Albert, the pan-industry body set up to help make television production sustainable, at an RTS panel discussion, “Producing sustainable TV – myth or reality?”.

Who’s singing on X Factor: Celebrity?

This series, wannabe popstars looking for their big break will be replaced by celebrities who will sing their hearts out to try and impress the judges.

The line-up includes reality stars, soap stars, models and sporting stars, with Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger joining Simon Cowell on the judging panel.

Cowell is serious about finding a new singing sensation among the celebrities, with a record deal on offer for the winner.

After winning hearts as a judge on BBC One's The VoiceRita Ora has jumped ship to its competitor, X Factor. The ITV show has also poached famous BBC face – or rather voice – Nick Grimshaw, who hosts the prestigious Radio 1 Breakfast slot. While Grimmy will fulfill his judging duties alongside his BBC role, Ora's may come as a blow to BBC producers. But this isn't the first time stars have jumped ship.
