Hollywood has provided me with truly memorable moments: drinking tea with Prince and Mariah Carey after the 2007 Grammy Awards; having breakfast with Danny DeVito and Charlotte Church in 1999, the year she had two double platinum CDs in the US; and lunching with Dame Joan Collins at the Beverly Hills Hotel Polo Lounge.

Then there was being guided round a Hollywood studio by Mel Brooks; seeking bootleg CDs with Island Records founder Chris Blackwell in Venice Market stalls; and celebrating my good friend Simon Cowell being honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The agreement with Syco Entertainment and FreemantleMedia UK extends ITV’s long-standing relationship with Cowell.

ITV’s Kevin Lygo was “delighted” that the shows were remaining on with the commercial broadcaster, adding “They are defining shows for us, ones that we are very proud to have as part of our entertainment slate.”

Season one judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, and Louis Walsh will also be joined by former judge Nicole Scherzinger as season 13 begins filming on 10th June. 

Scherzinger and Osbourne have not appeared on The X Factor since season 10, when Osbourne won with her act Sam Bailey. Louis Walsh was absent from last year's panel after an unbroken 12-year stint.

1. Susan Boyle

SuBo is undoubtedly the biggest act to come out of BGT in the past nine years,despite never actually winning the show. Going from a rocky start to absolutely wowing the judges at her audition, Susan has gone on to become one of the most well-known singers in the world.

The new series will be O’Leary’s ninth, as he took a break from hosting the show last year, while Olly Murs and Caroline Flack took the helm of the popular the programme.

He said “There’s nothing more exciting than hosting live TV on a Saturday night. The show is naturally very close to my heart. I’m really looking forward to it and excited to be back.”

From a questionable rendition of The Lion Sleeps Tonight to wannabe rapping duo Ant and Seb, the X Factor has seen an array of talent over the past ten years.

Saturday night prime-time hit The Voice will not return to the BBC in 2017 after being bought by ITV, it was announced this weekend.
