Victoria Wood’s favourite sketches to air on BBC Two

Chosen by Victoria herself, the sketches were listed in one of her personal notebooks discovered after her death.

The two episodes will show footage ranging across Victoria’s 40-year career, including unseen insights into her life with clips from her own personal archive.

With a magnificent back catalogue of hilarious comedy moments, Victoria Wood’s Secret List will offer viewers a unique look at Victoria’s most loved comedy sketches.

Children in Need hits the 40-year mark

The event will be filled with fun sketches, uplifting performances, appeal films and appearances from much-loved famous faces.

This night of frivolity and fundraising will include a section called Children in Need does The One Show, hosted by Alex Jones and Ade Adepitan MBE.

Adepitan will also host a special Children in Need: 40 Fabulous Years, which will pay homage to previous appeal shows in 40 fun-filled parts. The special will include the greatest moments that have made up the last 40 years and those whose lives have been changed by the donations.

New BBC Director-General Tim Davie says improving diversity is "mission critical"

In a tough stance reflecting sentiments articulated in his maiden speech as DG to the BBC on September 3, Davie told that RTS that “talk is cheap,” and that actions on greater representation of those from minority ethnic groups in the BBC workforce was essential. 

“There’s been incredible progress on screen but internally – and senior leadership is critical to this – progress and the speed of change has been slow,” he said.

Winners announced for the RTS West of England Awards 2020

The feature-length film, which tells the remarkable story of a diver who survived being trapped 100 metres under the sea with only minutes of breathable air remaining, scooped four awards.

Last Breath, made by MetFilm Production/Floating Harbour Films, won the Documentary award, with Paul Leonard-Morgan (Composer), Sam Rogers (Editing) and Ben Baird (Sound) also picking up prizes.

Netflix had more success with Our Planet, made by Bristol wildlife specialists Silverback Films, which won the Natural History and Cinematography awards.

Famalam: A sketch show defying gravity

When Famalam came to our screens in 2018, British television was ready and waiting for a high-profile comedic exploration of the contemporary black British experience. It tapped the same vein as Michaela Coel’s Chewing Gum and the 1990s ensemble show The Real McCoy – and another hit sketch show was long overdue.

BBC Two acquires documentary Enslaved: The Lost History of the Transatlantic Slave Trade

Enslaved will tell the story of the millions of enslaved Africans who were ripped from their homes and shipped against their will to the Americas by Western European slave traders.

During these 400 years, over 12 million people were sold into slavery and taken onto slave ships, which saw them packed like sardines and suffering inhumane conditions for weeks, leading to two million dying en-route at sea.
