JANUARY

“Great fears of the Sicknesse here in the City, it being said that two or three houses are already shut up. God preserve us all.” The very first mention of the plague in The Diary of Samuel Pepys, on 30 April 1665. Fast forward 355 years and there’s this on 11 January on the ITV News site: “Health authorities in the central Chinese city of Wuhan are reporting the first death from a new type of coronavirus.”

Ready Steady Cook made a return to screens in March after a 20-year break and will be back with 30 more episodes in 2021.

Rylan Clark-Neal will return to host and will be joined by chefs Mike Reid, Romy Gill MBE, Akis Petretzikis, Ellis Barrie and Anna Haugh, who will be racing against the clock to show off their cooking mastery.

Each episode will see two contestants, paired with a chef, compete against each other in the Ready Steady Cook kitchen.
