After the success of the UK’s first gay dating show, the BBC has now announced it is following up with the first lesbian dating show, I Kissed a Girl.
Pop icon, LGBTQ+ ally and self-proclaimed “fairy-godmother/cupid” Dannii Minogue will return to host the new series, which will see the female contestants journey to Italy to test their chemistry with a kiss.
Minogue will match the contestants herself before they enter the Masseria (an Italian farmhouse), where they will greet each other with a kiss on first meeting, before even having spoken to each other.
This is designed to test their chemistry before they get to know each other on a deeper level.
The 10-part series will begin with 10 single contestants before Minogue introduces more singles into the Masseria to make couples question their connections and shake things up.
Across the series, there will be several kiss-offs in which each couple will choose to kiss their original partner or save their kiss for someone else. Any contestants who remain without a kiss will have to leave the Masseria.
Dannii Minogue says: “After showing love truly is for everyone with I Kissed a Boy, I am thrilled to have the chance to be Cupid again for girls in this second series.
“I’m so excited to see if we can find more connections, chemistry and hopefully love sealed with a kiss – here come the girls.”
The release date for I Kissed a Girl is yet to be announced but all episodes of the original series, I Kissed a Boy, are now available to watch on iPlayer, with the reunion show airing on Sunday 11 June.
