If you’re already dreading the end of I Kissed a Girl, fear not – the BBC has commissioned a second series of its sibling, I Kissed a Boy.
Longtime gay ally and Australian pop princess Dannii Minogue is back for a second series of I Kissed a Boy, and the third in the franchise. As the UK’s first ever LGBTQIA+ dating show I Kissed a… has seen huge success, providing a healthy mix of drama, heartfelt conversations, and LGBTQIA+ education.
All set in a picturesque Masseria (Italian for farmhouse), the 10 individuals enter to meet their new partner, hand selected for them by Dannii Minogue herself. Upon meeting, no small talk is allowed, they jump right in with a kiss. After this they can formally introduce themselves, and head in to meet the other new couples. Last series saw passionate first meetings, and some awkward pecks, as well as someone’s first kiss, as an ex-Mormon entered the Masseria.
The path to love is never easy, and new arrivals are brought in regularly to shake things up and split up couples. They can change up their pairings at regular ‘kiss offs’, where they stand back-to-back with their current partner, turning around to recommit with a kiss. If someone is left without a kiss, chances are they will be sent back to rainy England.
Nasfim Haque, Head of Content for BBC Three says: “I am thrilled to have this innovative, ground-breaking format return to BBC Three. I Kissed a Boy’s success is testament to the channel’s unwavering dedication to producing content that both entertains and educates”.
Minogue says: “I am so excited that I’ll be back in Italy to play cupid. I can’t wait to meet the next cast when the Masseria doors open... There are so many diverse and important stories yet to tell. And be sure that I’ll have the party started for a wonderful summer of love”.
I Kissed a Boy is currently casting and expected to air on BBC Three in 2025.
