History man Dan Snow forges an online empire

"I’d rather have internet than running water," declares Dan Snow, broadcaster, historian and self-confessed digital obsessive. Not content with making history programmes for broadcasters on subjects as diverse as China’s Terracotta Army and the D-Day landings, Snow is now building an online empire. His new tools are apps, YouTube videos, Facebook, Twitter (where he has a whopping 100,000 followers) and, most recently, Periscope, the Twitter-owned live video app.

YouTube launches effort to verify eyewitness footage

YouTube has launched three new tools aimed at verifying eyewitness footage of events uploaded to the platform.

The video platform has become a go-to destination for breaking news footage. From the Arab Spring and the Green Revolution, to the Charlie Hebdo Attacks and the Protests in Ferguson, some of the most important stories have unfolded on the platform.

The best of student television making was celebrated at the RTS Student Television Awards earlier this month.

Adam Buxton will present highlights of the awards, RTS Student Awards, tonight (Friday 19th June) at 7pm on Sky Arts.

A selection of the nominated films will also be broadcast in full on Sky Arts later this summer.
