Contestants on UKTV channel Dave’s hit show Taskmaster have to think laterally and creatively as a series of challenges are thrown at them. Much like the BBC had to in 2017 when Discovery’s acquisition of UKTV’s co-owner Scripps triggered a clause that gave BBC Studios the option to buy out Discovery. The problem was that it lacked the cash to do so.
Dave’s Advent Calendar will feature a large roster of top comedians including Romesh Ranganathan (Judge Romesh), Kerry Godliman (Bad Move), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones), Josh Widdicombe (The Last Leg), Natasia Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats) and Jon Richardson (8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown).
Hosts James Acaster and Josh Widdicombe will challenge two teams of comedians to a series of absurd hypothetical scenarios, with even more ridiculous answers.
The comedians will be faced with questions such as 'You have to live in a motorway services for a year, how do you cope?', and, 'You have to take a selfie with Nicolas Cage within 48 hours or you die – how do you do it?'.
Widdicombe will be question master, with Acaster there to throw the teams curveball rules and decide which team should be awarded for the best hypothetical outcomes.
