To celebrate the Christmas spirit UKTV has commissioned a series of comedy shorts for the first twenty-four days of December.

Dave’s Advent Calendar will feature a large roster of top comedians including Romesh Ranganathan (Judge Romesh), Kerry Godliman (Bad Move), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones), Josh Widdicombe (The Last Leg), Natasia Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats) and Jon Richardson (8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown).

The twenty-four shorts will see the famous faces share their take on the festive holidays. Ranganathan explains his distaste for Christmas presents, while Demetriou talks about the sexually arousing nature of the holiday, Geoff Norcott debates his woke and non-woke thoughts on the festive season and Andrew Maxwell’s discusses his strong hatred of turkey.

Dave's Advent Calendar will air every night from 9pm, and will conclude with a Dave makeover of A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve.

The series was commissioned by Joe McVey, UKTV commissioning editor.

“I'm really pleased to say that this year Dave is offering up an advent calendar with 24 actual human people lurking behind the doors,” said McVey. “It's so much better than the ones with chocolate or the ones with lame pictures of snow people. Unless you really like chocolate.”

The festive commission follows a number of UKTV Originals to be aired on Dave in 2019, including comedy panel show Hypothetical, new quiz show Beat The Internet with John Robins and the return of hospital sitcom Porters.

The first instalment of Dave's Advent Calendar will air on Saturday 1st December on Dave.
