Greg Davies is to return as host of Dave's flagship entertainment show Taskmaster, along with his assistant and series creator Alex Horne
The programme has been renewed for two more series and will increase each series run from five to eight episodes. The news comes as the show is nominated for Best Entertainment Programme at the 2016 Broadcast Awards, and became the most watched commission on UKTV's video-on-demand service, UKTV Play, in 2015.
Taskmaster features five comedians per series, who take on a different set of strange and outlandish challenges each week to compete for the winner's trophy, awarded at the end of the series. Josh Widdicombe won the first series in 2015 and Katherine Ryan was crowned series two winner earlier this year. Al Murray, Dave Gorman, Sara Pascoe, Paul Chowdhry and Rob Beckett star in the third series which airs later this week.
Executive producer Alex Horne said: “As the Taskmaster's personal secretary and trainer I have been instructed to state that we're both satisfied that a total of ten apparently intelligent comedians will be doing more stupid things stupidly for Mr Davies. The Taskmaster has even bought me a caravan so this time I will be constantly on site to watch the desperate attempts and report back, before he ignores me and judges them.”
Tasks on previous series have included; conceal a pineapple on your person; make an ice block disappear; and throw a potato into a golf hole.
Jon Thoday of Avalon Television, the programme's producers, said: “We look forward to working with Dave on series four and five of Taskmaster - the channel is a brilliant home for entertainment shows and we really appreciate their continued support.”
