“There’s no ‘one size fits all’ for treatments": industry professionals on how to present the perfect pitch

“Development is anything that takes your show on a journey from a blank page of terrifying nothingness to the end of filming,” explained Andy Cadman, executive producer of ITV2’s Love Island.

 

Cadman was joined on the panel by All 4 commissioning editor Thom Gulseven and ITV2 scheduler Alex Wootten, who explained what they look for in a pitch.

The Royal Wives of Windsor

Monday: ITV, 9pm

This is one of a score of documentaries commissioned by ITV to celebrate the forthcoming nuptials of Prince Harry to TV royalty Meghan Markle. This programme explores the impact that other consorts, including Princess Diana, Wallis Simpson and Camilla Parker Bowles, have had on the house of Windsor. Historians, journalists and palace insiders take a look back and offer up their thoughts. Part two airs on Tuesday.

 

Channel 4 commissions first virtual reality film

The groundbreaking 15 minute long film will focus on the people who inhabited the tower rather than the event itself or the questions of who was to blame for the incident.

Combining documentary interviews shot in stereoscopic 360 with computer-generated animation, the film will focus on important events and poignant every-day moments of the residents’ lives, incorporating the contributors’ own photos and video footage.

The story became notorious at the time, due to the public outcry that his sentence of life imprisonment prompted, Martin having argued that he had used reasonable force to defend his property. One of the burglars, Fred Barras was 16 years old at the time of his death. 

Martin later appealed against his original conviction and was successful, his sentence was reduced and he was released after three years.
