The Cube returns with a one million pound jackpot

Phillip Schofield will once again host the intense proceedings, as the game show sees participants complete a series of seemingly simple challenges within the claustrophobic cube.

Schofield commented: “The Cube is such a cracking format but with the players now in teams and a whopping million-pound prize fund, it now means this high-pressure environment has just got tougher.

“I can’t wait to be reunited with the legendary Perspex Cube!”  

ITV announces sequel to The Murder of Stephen Lawrence

The original drama, which first aired in 1999, dramatised the aftermath of Stephen Lawrence's murder.

In April 1993, 18-year-old Stephen Lawrence was killed in a racially motivated attack by a gang of youths in Eltham, south London.

When the initial investigation failed to convict those responsible for Stephen’s murder, his parents led an extraordinary campaign for justice, resulting in a public enquiry into the police investigation and led to sweeping changes to law enforcement and police practices in the UK.

TV executives discuss how to produce television in a socially distanced environment

“The biggest issue when we started gearing up to re-start production about six weeks ago was fear,” said John Whiston, who as ITV’s managing director of continuing drama is responsible for running flagship soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

He said that production staff and talent needed reassuring after being isolated at home watching news coverage of the pandemic every night for weeks. 

UK broadcasters team up on guide for producing TV safely during Covid-19

The guidelines will allow productions to get up and running again, with the emphasis on the safety and well-being of employees.

The guide will be applicable to a broad range and scale of TV programmes of all genres and have been created with the collaboration of industry experts and the external expertise of Dr Paul Litchfield CBE.

Broadcasters have liaised with union representatives and the Health and Safety Executive and worked with First Option safety consultants to the media and entertainment industry.

The TV Collective to launch free online events for BAME industry professionals

The TV Collective coaches, champions and connects BAME workers with each other and to paid opportunities.

The sessions will help to specifically address the challenges BAME professionals face and will be a mix of free live talks and Q&A’s led by industry experts across TV, digital media and the creative industries.

Each session will allow attendees to discuss and collaborate and receive career advice, while exploring the new business models and ways of working adopted by the industry.

ITV commissions John and Lisa’s Weekend Kitchen for two more series

To adhere to social distancing rules, series four will be filmed later this month at the Television Centre Studios in London with a minimal crew and will air on ITV on Saturday mornings.

With restaurants closed and the lockdown still in place, people are cooking more than ever, and John and Lisa are here to help viewers with accessible, interesting and easy-to-make meal ideas for families.

Each episode has a different food theme and John and Lisa will use kitchen cupboard basics, which many people will already have, and offer at home hacks.
