GAME ON! The new world of opportunity in franchises across video games and TV

Does its success herald the start of a new era of cross-over IP as these two big sub-sectors of entertainment share stories, technology and talent? 

The RTS has brought together a uniquely qualified panel to discuss the increasing creative collaboration between games and TV over the last 30 years. While franchises such as Tomb Raider and Super Mario Bros made it to the big screen, it took the The Last of Us, first co-created by Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog in 2013, to prove that a game could become a critically acclaimed and popular TV series.  

You too can work in TV ….. opening the UK film and TV industry to all

The UK’s rapidly expanding film and TV industry is a substantial contributor to the UK’s GDP, however, widespread skills shortages are being experienced across the UK screen industries. 

This RTS event in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University has assembled an expert panel in front of a student and industry audience. Following the discussion, the panel will answer questions from the audience and consider how the screen industries can accelerate their move to becoming an industry that fully represents the UK population.

The 2023 Race Across The World teams - ranked!

The five teams will have to traverse Canada from the very edge of the Pacific Ocean in Vancouver to North America's most easterly city, St John's Newfoundland, all at ground level. And as always, the contestants will have to leave the modern world and all its comforts behind. There will be no air travel, no phones, no internet and no credit cards; just the cash equivalent of the same journey by plane.

The prestigious ceremony was held this evening at the London Hilton on Park Lane, hosted by journalist and presenter, Dan Walker.

The awards, which spanned 21 categories, celebrated and recognised journalism talent across the television industry. This year, the BBC led the way with 11 wins across both news and current affairs, including Network Daily News Programme of the Year for BBC News at Ten and Network Presenter of the Year which was awarded to Clive Myrie.

After Alice Levine sat in a room in Tyneside, part hiding from and part documenting a couple’s livestream sex show in series one of Sex Actually with Alice Levine, it was hard to know where this forensic look into 21st century sex would go next.
