Surreal comedy drama Juice has been renewed for a second series by the BBC.
The sitcom was created by and stars Mawaan Rizwan as Jamma, as he tries to get noticed in all aspects of life. His brother Isaac (Nabhaan Rizwan) has been outshining him at work, which is the only thing Jamma feels any good at. Meanwhile, mum Farida (Shahnaz Rizwan) only cares about one thing: herself. Some comfort comes in the form of Jamma’s boyfriend Guy (Russell Tovey), but that often isn’t enough to stop the world sliding into an bizarre alternate reality.
“Juice is back baby! I can’t wait to dive back into a magical world with magical people once again,” said Rizwan. “Shoutout to everyone who’s championed this beautiful bonkers show.... and everyone who hated on the bowl cut.”
The programme won in the Comedy Drama category at the 2024 RTS Programme Awards.
The BBC also announced that Such Brave Girls, written and created by Kat Sadler, will return for a second series.
“Mawaan and Kat are two of the funniest new voices in British comedy,” said Jon Petrie, Head of Comedy at the BBC, “in Juice and Such Brave Girls they created completely unique shows that made a real impact and were much-loved by audiences. It's a no brainer to have them back for a second time!”
Details about full casting and transmission for Juice’s second series are to be announced in due course.
