First look images confirm Boarders writer and creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor will return for series two alongside a new cast.
The series stars Josh Tedeku (Supacell), Jodie Campbell (No Return), Sekou Diaby, Myles Kamwendo (The School for Good and Evil) and Aruna Jalloh as schoolkids Jaheim, Leah, Toby, Omar and Femi. The talented teens were admitted to private boarding school St Gilbert’s after earning scholarships. Once there, it became clear the scholarships were a thinly veiled attempt at good PR… but the five are still determined to make the most of it. Creator Lawrence Taylor plays Gus, the new recruits’ mentor.
Returning cast members include Harry Gilby (The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die), Tallulah Greive (Our Ladies), Rosie Graham (The School for Good and Evil), Georgina Sadler (The A List) and Niky Wardley (The Catherine Tate Show) and Assa Kanouté in her debut.
Last series saw an explosive finale as the headmaster was suspended, leaving Carol Watlington-Geese (Wardley) to step up in place for series two. Unluckily for the five scholars, she’s the mum of their nemesis Rupert (Gilby) and she wants them out of the school.
New cast added for series two includes Wunmi Mosaku (His House) as Jaheim’s mum, and Michael Salami (Supacell) as Femi’s Uncle. Downton Abbey’s Cara Theobold will play St Gilbert’s new writer in residence Jude, and Kendra Brown will debut as American exchange student, Devon’ye.
Lawrence Taylor says: “Bringing the new season of Boarders to life has been an incredible experience, especially with the exciting addition of new faces to the cast. Watching the actors effortlessly return to their roles, as if they had never left, has been an absolute joy. We hope you enjoy this second helping of the series as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it!”
Boarders series two does not have a release date set, but it will air on BBC Three and iPlayer next year.
