Rose (Emily Hampshire), Magnus (Iain Glen) and Fulmer (Martin Compston) are among an oil rig crew 150 miles off the Scottish coast in the unpredictable and dangerous North Sea. While the crew are waiting to be collected to return to the mainland, the Kinloch Bravo rig is hit by huge tremors and encompassed by a supernatural mist, which leaves them deserted at sea with no communication to the outside world.

When David Coake (Mark Addy), head of Pictor Energy's Research & Expansion Division, joins the crew, he appears to know more about the unimaginable danger the crew are in, saying “nature isn’t a balance, it’s a war.”

As the reality of the situation sets in, the desperate crew attempts to discover what is behind the mysterious force as loyalties are tested and allegiances are formed.

The trailer shows the aftermath of the mysterious force that has enveloped the rig, as crew members find themselves in danger, with some experiencing psychological difficulties. As chaos ensues, the voice of Rose warns that the supernatural force, “isn’t something new, it’s old. And it’s waking up.”

The six-part thriller also stars Rochenda Sandall (Criminal: UK), Owen Teale (A Discovery of Witches), Richard Pepple (Cobra), Mark Bonnar (Guilt), Calvin Demba (Life), Emun Elliott (Guilt), Abraham Popoola (Cruella), Stuart McQuarrie (Des), Molly Vevers (The Spanish Princess), Cameron Fulton (River City) and Nikhil Parmar (Foundation).

The Rig will launch on Prime Video on Friday 6 January 2023.
