The BBC has released first-look images and further casting details for the second series of The Gold. The crime caper dramatises the 1983 Brink’s-Mat robbery, one of the biggest heists in British history.
After finally managing to get convictions, the police realise that the criminals they’ve put behind bars only ever had half the stolen gold. Series two will ask the question on the lips of every cop (and audience member): who has the other half?
The answer will drag the police into a world of manhunts and money laundering. The organised criminals now in possession of the eponymous precious metal aren’t going to give it up without a fight.
Among those returning are Hugh Bonneville (Paddington) as Brian Boyce, Charlotte Spencer (Ted Lasso) as Nicki Jennings and Emun Elliott (The Rig) as Tony Brightwell, three police officers determined to recover the gold. Peter Davison (All Creatures Great and Small) will also be reprising his role as Assistant Commissioner Gordon Stewart, along with Amanda Drew (Lockerbie) as CS Cath McClean and Silas Carson (Outnumbered) as police officer Harry Bowman.
Newly-announced cast include Tom Hughes (The English), Stephen Campbell Moore (Masters of the Air), Joshua McGuire (Cheaters) and Tamsin Topolski (Slow Horses). Joshua Samuels (Saltburn), Rochelle Neil (Three Little Birds), Lorna Brown (The Witcher) and Thomas Coombes (Baby Reindeer) will also feature. Rounding out the cast are Sean Teale (Doctor Odyssey) and Olivia Grant (Stardust).
Series two of The Gold will air on BBC One later in 2025, and will also be available on iPlayer.
