The BBC has confirmed Death in Paradise spin-off Return to Paradise will come back for a second series, which has begun filming in Australia.
Detective Sergeant Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson, Wake in Fright) will be back to solve crimes with her considerable wits and slightly less considerable social skills. Thankfully, Detective SC Colin Cartwright (Lloyd Griffith, Ted Lasso) will be by her side.
Series one ended with the revelation that Mack’s ex-fiancée Glenn (Tai Hara, Colin from Accounts) still loves her. Now, she’s tiptoeing around Dolphin Cove, determined to avoid him. Thankfully, she can throw herself into work, which in series two, involves murders at a shark lab, rock concert and in the literary world.
“We were delighted that the world took Mack and the rest of the Australian team to their hearts and it’s a pleasure to be back on the beat with the wonderful cast and crew Down Under. We can promise another series full of ingenious murders, romantic complications and glorious Australian locations, all infused with the unique warmth and humour of the Paradise shows,” said executive producer Tim Key.
“More than five million UK viewers took the trip to Dolphin Cove last year, and I’m so pleased that we will soon be heading back Down Under to join Mack and the team for six fiendishly clever and wonderfully entertaining new cases,” said Sue Deeks, head of BBC Programme Acquisitions.
