Based on the novel by Celeste Ng, single mother Mia Warren (Kerry Washington) is an artist who moves to Shaker Heights with her daughter and they become the tenants of the picture-perfect Richardson family, fronted by matriarch Elena Richardson (Reese Witherspoon).

With such different views of the world, the two families are put under the microscope when uncomfortable truths come to light and battle lines are drawn.

Channel 4 acquires US hit comedy black-ish

Currently in its third season in the US, the show stars Anthony Anderson (Kangaroo JackThe Departed) as Andre Johnson, a middle-class father of four who is afraid he and his family have lost sight of their culture as black Americans living in a white suburban neighbourhood. The series follows Andre's attempts to reclaim his family's heritage and encourage his children to celebrate their roots.

Feelgood drama This is Us heads to Channel 4

The series is written and produced by Dan Fogleman - creator of Crazy Stupid Love, and follows the lives of seemingly random individuals, many of whom share the same birthday, whose lives cross in curious ways.

Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, Gilmore Girls) and Sterling K. Brown (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) star in the series, alongside Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson and Ron Cephas Jones.
