Channel 4 has won the UK broadcast rights to This is Us – the feelgood comedy-drama series that is set to take the United States by storm.

The series is written and produced by Dan Fogleman - creator of Crazy Stupid Love, and follows the lives of seemingly random individuals, many of whom share the same birthday, whose lives cross in curious ways.

Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, Gilmore Girls) and Sterling K. Brown (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) star in the series, alongside Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Chris Sullivan, Susan Kelechi Watson and Ron Cephas Jones.

The 20th Century Fox show’s first-look trailer amassed a record-breaking 64 million Facebook views and 10 million people tuned in to watch the pilot episode, which premiered on NBC on Tuesday September 20.

After the success of the pilot, the programme was picked up for a full series, which starts in the US next week.

Jay Hunt, Channel 4 Chief Creative Officer said: “This Is Us is unmissably life affirming, with a warmth that has drawn critical acclaim and bumper ratings.”
