Strictly Come Dancing

One of my first TV shows was about endangered animals around the world,” recalls presenter Ade Adepitan. “When I met with the producer and director, they told me: ‘This show is going to involve scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, trekking through the jungle in South Africa and Namibia, and hiking up mountains in Romania. We don’t want you to feel under any pressure, but is this something you think you can do?’ I said: ‘When do we start?’ I’m the sort of person who takes things on and then finds the solution as we go along.

This year will see a change to the judging panel with pro dancer Anton Du Beke replacing Bruno Tonioli as a judge, and a new group of pro dancers will take to the stage. 

The first celebrity contestants have been announced, which will include Strictly’s first ever all male couple. 

Tom Fletcher 

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will once again host the proceedings, with John Barrowman joining the judging panel of Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill and Ashley Banjo.

Ann Widdecombe takes flight during the tango

2010

Politician, author and TV personality Ann Widdecombe caused quite a stir when she joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, partnering up with loveable veteran Anton du Beke.

This series will make Strictly history with the show's first ever same-sex dance pair. Nicola Adams OBE will be part of an all-female dance partnership. 

Putting some sparkle and shimmer back into our Saturday and Sunday nights, the BBC has started to announce the celebrity dancers who will be taking to the dance floor.

Strictly: The Best Of The Final will look back at the magical routines that made the Strictly finals and saw champions raise the famous trophy.

The special will showcase the emotional roller-coaster finalists go through and pay tribute to the 2014 champion Caroline Flack.

The Strictly: The Best Of specials will also include much-loved moments from themed weeks, movies, musicals and Blackpool.

The new studio is planned to house the production of multiple TV shows and films simultaneously and will be located in Elstree, close to the home of Star Wars and Strictly Come Dancing, Elstree Studios.

Backed by Sky’s recent new owner Comcast, the new studio will be developed in partnership with sister-company NBCUniversal and Legal & General.

The winners were announced at a prestigious ceremony held this evening at the London Hilton, Park Lane, and was hosted by political comedian Ahir Shah.

The RTS Craft & Design Awards celebrate excellence in broadcast television and aim to recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production. They span across 30 categories in total, and this year Chernobyl led the way with six wins across Costume Design – Drama, Make Up Design – Drama, Music – Original Score, Photography – Drama & Comedy, Production Design – Drama and Sound - Drama categories.
