Romesh Ranganathan pens new comedy series Avoidance for BBC One

Created alongside Benjamin Green (An Idiot Abroad), who also directs the series, Ranganathan leads Avoidance as Jonathan, a man with severe conflict avoidance issues whose life revolves around his nine-year-old son Spencer.

Having always deferred any decision, big or small, to his partner Claire (Jessica Knappett, Ghosts), Jonathan is finally forced to face conflict when Claire asks him to leave. With no home, no friends and no ambition, Jonathan has only one goal: to preserve his son’s happiness in the wake of his parents’ break-up.

As always there are big characters in the boardroom of all ages, experiences and personalities, all united by a fiercely competitive streak and seemingly boundless confidence. We’ll just have to see who has the business acumen to back it up.

BBC One releases Peaky Blinders series six trailer: “One last deal to be done”

Released on New Year’s Day, the trailer sees Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) tease “one last deal to be done, then we Peaky Blinders rest.”

There is also footage of acquaintances new and old, including Stephen Graham’s new character clashing with the Shelby brothers, and Tom Hardy’s return as Alfie in the series.

Also returning are Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Finn Cole as Michael Gray, Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray and Sophie Rundle as Ada Shelby, among others.

BBC One confirms premiere for new factual drama Four Lives

Writers Jeff Pope and Neil McKay, the duo behind The Moorside and Appropriate Adult, will shed new light on the story by shifting the perspective to the friends and families of the four young men who were killed by Port.

The police investigation into the deaths of Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor was widely condemned, and forced their relatives to take the case into their own hands.

Ghosts to return to BBC One for a fourth series

Series four will see Alison (Charlotte Ritchie) and Mike (Kiell Smith-Bynoe) open the gatehouse for business as a humble bed and breakfast, in the hopes of making some money without the ghosts interfering as usual.

The sitcom comes from the creators and stars of Yonderland and Bill, Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond, who were also the original stars of Horrible Histories.

KSI, Anne-Marie and Sam Fender to perform on Top Of The Pops festive specials

The brand new performances will be recorded at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, London, with BBC Radio 1’s Clara Amfo returning to host alongside fellow Radio 1 DJ Jordan North.

On the line-up for the Christmas Special are Anne-Marie, Griff, Clean Bandit ft. Wes Nelson, Joel Corry ft. Mabel, KSI, Mimi Webb, Sigrid and Tom Grennan.

Amfo and North will look back at the year in music in a New Year Special that will also feature performances from ArrDee, Becky Hill, Dermot Kennedy, Lola Young, Mabel, Mahalia ft. AJ Tracey and Sam Fender.

Keeley Hawes to lead new BBC One drama Crossfire

When sunbathing on her hotel room balcony, Jo (Hawes) hears gunshots ring out across the complex. The gunmen, hellbent on revenge, instantly turn her dream holiday with family and friends into a waking nightmare.

As the hotel staff and clientele are forced to make rash life-or-death decisions, the consequences will last long after the final shots are fired.
