BBC One’s new factual drama on the four murder victims of Stephen Port, entitled Four Lives, will premiere in January 2022.
Writers Jeff Pope and Neil McKay, the duo behind The Moorside and Appropriate Adult, will shed new light on the story by shifting the perspective to the friends and families of the four young men who were killed by Port.
The police investigation into the deaths of Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor was widely condemned, and forced their relatives to take the case into their own hands.
An inquest into the four murders concluded last week, with the jury ruling that failings by the Met Police contributed to the deaths of Port's final three victims.
Stephen Merchant will star as Port, who received a life sentence with a whole-life order in November 2016.
Sheridan Smith, Jaime Winstone, Samuel Barnett, Rufus Jones, Robert Emms, Daniel Ryan, Stephanie Hyam and Leanne Best will also feature.
Four Lives will air over three consecutive nights from 3 January 2022 at 9pm on BBC One, with all episodes on BBC iPlayer from the same time.
