Student Television Awards and USW Industry Day

 
RTS Wales Centre will be holding an Industry Day event in conjunction with the Film and TV School Wales/University of South Wales.  The day will include a conference to celebrate and discuss the future of TV in Wales, an industry fair, networking opportunities and masterclasses.

The day will conclude with the RTS Wales Centre Student Television Awards, presented by Daniel Glyn, which will be held in the Atrium Theatre at 6pm, with a reception from 5pm.

RTS Wales is pleased to present a showing of Sweet Sixteen: A Transgender Story.  This intimate and candid coming-of-age film follows a Welsh transgender teenager, Llyr Jones, as she turns 16.  As she moves from childhood to adulthood, Llyr's understanding of herself crystallises, and she begins to explore the new possibilities of adulthood and identity.

Is the Internet subverting objective, factual reporting?  Are social media platforms disseminating lies, and how should broadcasters respond?  Is it too easy for politicians to use the label of 'fake news' to undermine something they don't like?  How should journalists tackle them?  Is the legal requirement placed on broadcasters for news to be accurate and impartial sustainable?
