Historian David Olusoga examines 50 years of BBC documentary archives to look at the appeal of dictators, and find out how they gain power.

Young and Promising
Tuesday, 11.05pm, Channel 4
Young and Promising, hailed as Norway’s answer to Girls, has taken its home country by storm. The semi-autobiographical drama written by, and starring, Siri Seljeseth, follows three ambitious twenty-somethings trying to succeed in Oslo.
Seljeseth plays Elise, a stand-up comic who moved to LA to try and make it big, but has returned home due to visa issues. Her friends Alex and Nene are also struggling to get noticed in Norway’s capital.
The whole of series one and two will be available to binge on Walter Presents on All 4.
Entertainment
Don’t Tell the Bride
Wednesday, 9pm, E4
Don’t Tell the Bride has been on a bit of a journey in recent years. Having started on BBC Three, it moved to Sky when the channel went online. Now the show has moved to E4, but it retains the original remit: grooms have just three weeks and £14,000 to organise their bride-to-be’s perfect day.
This week it’s the turn of Carl and Rebecca to tie the not. Rebecca dreams of a classy wedding, but will Carl’s plans of marriage on the Med meet her expectations?
Comedy
Joel Dommett at the Soho Theatre Live
Wednesday, 10pm, Comedy Central
The TV schedules are experiencing a comedy vacuum this week, but in the middle of this laughter desert comes Joel Dommett’s stand up routine from the Soho Theatre in London. His half hour slot covers everything from his dating mishaps to the pranks he used to play on his Grandad.
Documentary
Inside the London Fire Brigade
Thursday, 9pm, ITV
The London Fire Brigade battles around 20,000 fires a year, and assists with other emergencies such as flooding and road traffic accidents. This new three part series follows heroic firefighters as they deal with the capital’s emergencies.
In this week’s episode, fire cameras capture the response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy – London’s most devastating fire since the Blitz. For the first time, firefighters describe the horror of what they saw, and how they feared the building might collapse as they fought the flames.
