Mo Gilligan is to join Jill Scott, Jamie Redknapp and host Romesh Ranganathan as a recurring guest on Sky’s sports-themed panel show, A League of Their Own.
A League of Their Own sees sports stars and comedians compete in a series of rounds designed to test their sporting knowledge. In teams of three, they have to answer hard-hitting questions such as: "which of these three sports people’s wives charges the most for perfume?" Or, "can you arrange David James’ haircuts in chronological order?"
In the final round, one of the teammates tries to sustain a physical task whilst the other two answer as many questions as they can, before their teammate admits defeat.
The new series will bring new challenges along with it: a penalty shootout in front of a packed-out Old Trafford crowd, a competition to become the best peloton instructor, and a brand new cricket challenge.
Two-time RTS Award-winner Gilligan will be joining the show's red team alongside team captain and ex-footballer Jamie Redknapp, who has featured on the show since its inception in 2010. Against them on the show's blue team is Lioness Jill Scott, who will take the captain's armband for the first time, and former Man City player Micah Richards.
Making up the teams of three will be a squad of rotating guests including Katherine Ryan (The Duchess), ex-footballer and new Sky Sports pundit Daniel Sturridge, Rob Beckett (8 Out of 10 Cats), Guz Khan (Man Like Mobeen), Maisie Adam (Outsiders), Jimmy Carr (8 Out of 10 Cats), Alex Brooker (The Last Leg) and many more.
Mo Gilligan says: “I love this show. I always have. It’s good people and good vibes. When Sky asked if I’d consider joining the A League of Their Own team, there was no question in my mind. It was an immediate yes. I’m here for it all!”
The 18th series of A League of Their Own will air later in 2023 on Sky Max.
