ITV has commissioned Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening, a celebrity gameshow fronted by the Rob & Romesh Vs star.
The series will see celebrities team up with their family members to try and win cash for a charity of their choice.
Though the adult children provide the answers, it’s the parents picking the questions. Contestants will need to hope mum or dad know them well enough to choose ones their child can answer, and avoid ones they can’t.
Whichever team gets the biggest pile of cash will go through to the final, where they will have the chance to double their winnings.
Amongst those taking part in the three-part series are Alison Hammond (The Great British Bake Off) and her son Aidan, and Carol Vorderman (Countdown) and son Cameron.
Iain Stirling (narrator of Love Island) and mother Alison will also make an appearance, alongside Romesh’s mother, Shanti, who will be overseeing proceedings with a watchful eye.
“I am really grateful ITV has given me the chance to host this brand new series,” said Romesh. “I am less grateful they also gave the chance to my mother.”
“It has been a real joy creating this brand new format with ITV. We believe this show has everything: Romesh, his mum, celebrities, great play-along and a groundbreaking chair that moves backward three feet,” said Benjamin Green at Ranga Bee Productions, who are producing the show.
Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening will air on ITV1 and be available on ITVX.
