UKTV has commissioned the latest instalment in the popular Inside the… franchise, Inside the Operating Theatre.
The fixed rig documentary series will focus on four operating theatres at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Norfolk, providing an in-depth look at the many different procedures and operations carried out, including plastic surgery and cardiology.
The series, which will be made by Inside the Ambulance producers Big Brown Bob, was commissioned by Hilary Rosen, UKTV’s deputy director of commissioning, who described her excitement for the new series: “Brown Bob’s latest addition to the ‘Inside the…’ franchise is their most ambitious rig to date, and I can’t wait to see how the stories from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s operating theatres unfold. Once again, they will deliver a strong cast of returning characters working at the hospital, alongside the powerful and intimate stories told by the patients who comes through the doors.”
Inside the Operating Theatre is the latest original commission for W, following recent orders for Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, Sex, Knives & Liposuction, as well as, Dr Christian: 12 Hours to Cure Your Street, and two new scripted series Flack and Women on the Verge.
Inside the Operating Theatre will be aired on W in 2019.
