Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin will star in new UK comedy-drama Flack.
The series is set in the competitive and celebrity-driven world of public relations.
Flack follows Robyn (Paquin), a witty American publicity maven living in London, as she tackles the complexities of the digital age where scandals can go viral in an instant.
“My character exists in a world where there are no moral absolutes and humour is used as a sharply executed defence mechanism to maintain the illusion of perpetual control,” says Paquin
The series was created by actor and theatre producer Oliver Lansley, who wrote BBC Two comedy Whites. Lansley will also executive produce alongside Paquin.
Flack is the first original drama commission for UKTV channel W. “It marks a new chapter in the ever-expanding story of UKTV’s move into original programming,” says UKTV Director of Commissioning, Richard Watsham.
UKTV has co-commissioned the series with US network Pop, and it is co-produced by Hat Trick Productions and Anna Paquin’s production company CASM Films.
The six-part series will begin shooting in London this spring and air in 2019 on W.
