Sky 1 has released a trailer for family-friendly comedy Yonderland, which contains the first footage of Stephen Fry’s new character, Cuddly Dick.

The programme is set in a magical, madcap world populated by wizards and elves.

Cuddly Dick is a former elder who returns to Yonderland having been imprisoned for years by the now-dead Imperatrix.

Cuddly Dick is a charming eccentric who lives to spread love and kindness.

Series three begins during a time of peace and prosperity in Yonderland. Stay-at-home mum Debbie (Martha Howe-Douglas) has fulfilled the prophecy that brought her to the land, via a portal in her kitchen cupboard, as the Chosen One.

Her arch-nemesis Imperatrix has been destroyed and after the return of long-lost Cuddly Dick, Debbie feels she can leave the realm in his safe hands.

But Debbie must decide whether she can really return to domesticity after experiencing the surreal world of Yonderland.

Her husband Peter (Dan Skinner) has been offered a promotion which would require the family to move to Glasgow, and if he accepts, it would mean leaving the kitchen cupboard portal - and Yonderland - behind for good.

Yonderland is written, created by and stars Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond – all previously known for acting in CBBC’s Horrible Histories.

Series three starts on Sky1 on Sunday 16 October, 6.30pm.
