Netflix gave Stranger Things fans a Valentine’s Day treat by confirming that Hopper (David Harbour) will return for series four.

The 80s-inspired sci-fi series garnered widespread admiration when it first appeared in 2016 and has since become one of Netflix’s most watched programmes.

The third series saw Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Hopper uncover the secret Russian network hidden below Hawkins’ Starcourt Mall, with the help of the ‘Scoop Troops’ Steve (Joe Keery), Robin (Maya Hawke), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Erica (Priah Ferguson).

The final episode suggested that Hopper died in an explosion in the subterranean laboratory, as Joyce attempted to close the portal to the upside down. Both Joyce and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Hopper’s adopted daughter, gave an emotional farewell to the beloved police chief.

Yet the latest trailer indicates that Hopper has indeed survived the explosion and appears to be being held captive in the coldest corner of Russia.

Sporting a new shaved head, Hopper is joined by fellow prisoners building a railway.
