The Change has been commissioned for a second series by Channel 4.
Written and created by Bridget Christie (Taskmaster), the comedy-drama follows 50-year-old Linda Jane Jenkins (Christie), who embarks on a pilgrimage to Gloucestershire after learning she has started the menopause. Linda finds solace in the forest, where she meets a host of interesting characters, from the Pig Man (Jerome Flynn) to the Verderer (Jim Howick). The community rally around the Eel Festival, where Linda is crowned the Eel Queen.
Series two will see her future with the forest community thrown into question. Husband Steve (Omid Djalili) is back on the scene to try and bring her back to reality, with all its sexist trappings.
The Change saw Christie nominated for Writer – Comedy in the RTS Programme Awards 2024.
“Of course soon after the Spring Equinox feels like the perfect time to celebrate the return of The Change to Channel 4,” said Charlie Perkins, Channel 4’s Head of Comedy. “The critical and cultural response to series one was special; celebrating a distinctive, artistic, and uniquely funny take on subject matter we hadn’t seen reflected in comedy before.”
“What??? I've got a SECOND series?! What was the first one about?” Christie added.
Details on casting for series two are to be announced in due course.
