BBC One has released the first trailer and six new images for its upcoming thriller series, Vigil, from the makers of Line of Duty and Bodyguard.

The six-part series stars Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack), Rose Leslie (Downtown Abbey), Shaun Evans (Endeavour), Martin Compston (Line of Duty) and Paterson Joseph (Peep Show).

Jones and Leslie star as DCI Amy Silva and DS Kirsten Longacre, who lead an investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on-board the HMS Vigil submarine.

As they investigate, the detectives clash with the Navy and British security services as they begin to uncover a conspiracy that threatens Britain’s nuclear deterrent.

James Strong (Broadchurch) and Isabelle Sieb (Shetland) directed the series from writer Tom Edge (Judy).

Vigil will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later in 2021.
