A first look image has been released for BBC thriller Vigil, as filming resumes in Scotland.

Created and written by Tom Edge, the six-part thriller follows the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on board a Trident nuclear submarine.

The resulting chaos leads to a tense conflict between the police, Navy and British security, as they each try to deal with the situation in their own way.

DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) is the head of the investigation, taking place on both land and at sea, and uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to devastate the system at the heart of Britain’s nuclear deterrent.

The series will star Rose Leslie (The Good Fight), Shaun Evans (Endeavour), Anjli Mohindra (Bodyguard), Martin Compston (Line Of Duty), Paterson Joseph (Peep Show), Connor Swindells (Sex Education), Adam James (Doctor Foster), and Gary Lewis (His Dark Materials).

Further casting has also been announced, which will see Stephen Dillane (Game Of Thrones), Lolita Chakrabarti (Riviera), Daniel Portman (Game Of Thrones), Lorne MacFadyen (Grantchester), Stephen McCole (Save Me), Tom Gill (Peterloo), Lois Chimimba (Top Boy), Anita Vettesse (The Loch), Bobby Rainsbury (Call The Midwife), Cristian Ortega (Beats) and Lauren Lyle (Outlander) join the series.

Using independent health and safety consultants, filming has resumed near Glasgow in accordance with government guidelines.
