It’s 2001 in East London. Five friends have finished school and found themselves wanting more out of life. Instead of waiting for opportunities to come to them, the group decide to try and make it big in the garage scene.
This includes Michael Cera (Superbad) as the titular Scott Pilgrim, a 23-year-old bass guitarist in the band ‘Sex Bob-Omb’, Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) as Julie Powers, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Wolf Lake) as Scott's manic-pixie love interest Ramona Flowers, and Succession’s Kieran Culkin as Scott's roommate Wallace Wells.
The 2010 live action film Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, directed by Edgar Wright of 'Three Flavours Cornetto' fame, also won a cult following, both for Wright's typically kinetic and frenetic touch which borrowed from video games, manga and martial arts movies, and its all-star cast.
As announced in March 2023, the stars are aligning again to voice their same characters in the new anime, entitled Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
