New music series seeks fan memorabilia

From drumsticks to diary entries, new BBC Four series the People’s History of Pop (PHOP) will look at the evolution of music through the eyes of its fans.

The series will be split into four episodes, to air throughout 2016, each focusing on a different decade of pop history.

In an industry first, production company 7 Wonder is working with Historypin, a user-generated digital archive of historical artefacts, to collate music memorabilia from fans across the country.

Louis Theroux has produced the series through his company Mindhouse Productions, alongside fellow Exec Nancy Strang.

The three hour-long episodes will tell the stories behind some of the UK and Ireland’s most adored popstars, through both archive footage and ‘searingly honest’ interviews with the stars themselves.

Who’s who in Soccer Aid 2024?

Launched in 2006 by Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes, Soccer Aid has so far raised over £90 million in aid of UNICEF UK through ticket sales and donations. It’s also led to many scenes straight out of a fever dream, like the lead guitarist from Kasabian chipping former England first choice keeper David Seaman before getting a pat on the back from his teammate Will Ferrell.

Famous faces that have previously graced the Soccer Aid pitch have included: Will Ferrell, Mike Myers, Woody Harrelson, Gerard Butler, Edward Norton and James Corden.

Homeland and Billions actor Damien Lewis, who has proved quite popular with fans due to his ability as a pacey winger has and continues to be a permanent fixture on the England team. This year, he is joined on the by four-time Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, as well as Soccer Aid regular, musician Olly Murs.
