Top Gear to return in March

The series is back with Matt le Blanc, Rory Reid and Chris Harris forming the main line up.

Sabine Schmitz and Eddie Jordan also make a return in the series in supporting roles, Rory Reid revealed in an exclusive interview with the RTS.

The new series, he says, is “going back to what Top Gear was very well known for – wacky ideas, big ambitious projects, things that are scary to look at and dangerous to take part in.”

Top Gear's Rory Reid: from mega-fan to superstar

Top Gear, Chris Evans, Matt le Blanc,

“There’s a stretch of time from mid-November where I’ll be away for weeks at a time” he says.

I am meeting Rory in the upstairs bar of a pub just around the corner from the BBC in central London.

As I arrive Reid is just polishing off his lunch in the otherwise empty bar. He’s friendly, relaxed, and nothing at all like his famously starving predecessor Jeremy Clarkson.

Reid is one of the main presenters of the BBC’s new and improved Top Gear line up, joining Friends star Matt le Blanc and motoring journalist Chris Harris.

BBC announce Top Gear spinoff

Rory Reid, Top Gear, Extra Gear, BBC

Reid is part of the main Top Gear line up, and is the only presenter to have been found through the show's open auditions.

Filmed at the Top Gear hangar, Extra Gear will deliver behind-the-scenes access, exclusive footage, interviews and specially recorded films to fans of the show.

The show will be available on BBC Three’s live page and on iPlayer immediately after Top Gear finishes on BBC Two.
