Sarah Williams, who had previously gained renown for adaptations and had never before written a TV thriller, was focused on the love/hate family dynamic before a conversation with Silverprint Pictures creative director Kate Bartlett who had asked her to come up with an idea for a joint project.

“At the start, I wanted to get to the heart of that thing you have with your family, where you’re full of love and support for them, but they can also wind you up and find your weak points,” Williams told an RTS Q&A session following an exclusive screening of the first episode.

Bullmore burst onto screens almost 30 years ago as the gutsy Steph Barnes in Coronation Street and has gone on to star in I’m Alan Partridge, Happy Valley and Scott and Bailey, which she also wrote for.

She finds being both an actress and a writer allows her to always find inspiration for storytelling. 

Set in nineteenth century London, Miss Scarlet and The Duke chronicles the adventures of the first ever female detective in Victorian London.

Kate Phillips (Peaky Blinders) plays the headstrong Eliza Scarlet who is left penniless when her father dies and marriage is her only hope of financial security.

Determined to provide for herself, Scarlet takes over her father’s detective agency, but soon realises she needs a partner if she is to operate in this man’s world.

The six-part series focuses on a trial that grips the nation and is at the centre of a media storm, putting a harsh spotlight on the victim, the accused and both their families.

The trial explores the disappearance of Hannah Ellis, a hard-working student and daughter of a single mum.

Following her disappearance, Talitha Campbell, an arrogant daughter of a wealthy entrepreneur, is arrested and charged as the perpetrator.

They join Tahar Rahim (The Looming Tower) who will play real life serial killer Charles Sobhraj, one of the most evasive criminals of the 20^th century.

The series, written by Richard Warlow and Toby Finlay, follows Sobhraj’s murderous spree, which was estimated to have taken place between 1975 and 1976 across India, Thailand and Nepal’s ‘Hippie Trail’.

He was the chief suspect in almost 20 unsolved murders of young Western travellers during this time and by 1976 was Interpol’s most wanted man, with arrest warrants on three different continents.

The contemporary crime series, created and written by Robert Murphy (DCI Banks), gives viewers a new story each episode.

A classic crime story is at the heart of the series and the first episode features two crime mysteries investigated by chalk and cheese duo, the wildly ambitious DCI McDonald (Tala Gouveia, Cold Feet) and the shy, modest DS Dodds (Jason Watkins, The Crown); the pair form a quarrelsome but effective partnership.

The drama series focuses on the 51-day gun battle – the longest in U.S. law enforcement history – following a raid by the FBI on cult leader David Koresh (Taylor Kitsch) and his devout followers, just outside Waco, Texas in 1993.

The aftermath of the gun battle led to the deaths of four agents and six civilians, with dozens more wounded. A fire then engulfed the compound killing the 76 men, women and children inside.

What really happened during those 51 days remains a mystery and is one of the most misunderstood stories in American history.

Molly Windsor (Cheat), Laura Fraser (The Loch) and Jennifer Spence (You Me Her) are set to join Line of Duty’s Martin Compston in Amelia Bullmore’s (Scott & Bailey) new drama as three forensic scientists who aim to discover the truth behind an unsolved murder.

4 Blocks tells the story of the Hamady crime family, which is engaged in a bloody fight for control of the drug trade in the Neukölln district of Berlin with the rival al-Saafi clan.

Kida Khodr Ramadan, who plays the head of the clan, Ali “Toni” Hamady, was at the screening, and told the audience: “It’s a pleasure to see you all here in my first time in London."
