Pinewood Studios has invested £450 million into a screen industries growth hub called Screen Hub.
The new hub will be based at their Buckinghamshire site and will sit on a 77-acre plot adjacent to the existing studio, famous for the global franchises Star Wars and James Bond.
The Screen hub will include a 350,000 sq. ft film inspired visitor attraction called Pinewood Studio Experience, brand new film production opportunities, an educational training and skills hub, a creative industries business growth hub, all topped off with a green campus.
The new project is estimated to create 3,500 new jobs, inject £230 million into the economy annually and £125 million into the tourism industry annually.
Pinewood group chair, Paul Golding commented: “The government and Buckinghamshire LEP have recognized Pinewood Studios as a major economic asset to be enhanced with the creation of a screen growth hub for the U.K.
“We are pleased to be able to respond with this scheme. We have been looking at a visitor experience for some time and feel that now is the right moment to bring it forward.
“The project will strengthen U.K. film and bring much needed jobs and spending. We hope our planning application will receive widespread support.”
Next week Pinewood Group will start preparing the application for the hub and begin consulting with the local community and wider stakeholders.
