Prime Video has cast Brian Cox in its upcoming UK original series 007's Road to a Million.
Cox, best known for his star turn in Succession as Waystar Royco CEO Logan Roy, will play The Controller, the enigma who determines the fate of the teams of two competing in a global adventure.
From the Scottish Highlands to Venice and Jamaica, the series will visit many iconic locations from the Bond franchise as it tests the intelligence, endurance and heroism of the contestants. As well as conquering all the obstacles in their path, they will have to answer the questions hidden in the different locations to progress to the next challenge.
Having terrorised the Roy siblings as Logan in Succession, largely by stirring the pot and pitting them against one another, the part of The Controller should come naturally to Cox. Prime Video has described the character as "villainous and cultured", and one who "revels in the increasingly difficult journeys and questions the contestants must overcome."
If they manage to overcome them all, The Controller has up to £1 million to give away to each couple.
It sounds like Cox himself revelled in the role, commenting: “I got to see how ordinary people would cope with being on a James Bond adventure. As they travel the world to some of the most iconic Bond locations, it gets more intense and nail-biting. I enjoyed my role as both villain and tormentor, with license to put the hopeful participants through the mangle.”
007's Road to a Million will launch exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories later in 2023.
